Our two handheld cameras are used during the music portion of our services to get dynamic shots of both singers and musicians. These cameras are expected to get shots that stationary cameras simply cannot get.
Our handhelds go up on stage as well as on the floor, near the stage, and sometimes up certain isles in the auditorium in the midst of the audience. Handheld camera operators need to be nimble and have an eye for framing shots before the Director needs them. They are expected to be able to maneuver up and down temporary stage steps and avoid guitar peddle boards as well as lighting fixtures that might be in their paths.
Our video style requires that handheld camera operators be able to use the zoom lens on the manual setting, as well as being able to pull focus on shots as required. Handheld is not a starting point for new operators but rather something that is worked into by the discretion of the Live Video Director.
We have training opportunities for camera operators who want to move up to this position.
